Design Spotlight - Santa Badger Don't Care

By now there aren't very many people who haven't seen or heard of the viral internet video, "The Crazy Nastyass Honey Badger (original narration by Randall)". The most entertaining aspect of the video is believed to be Randall's highly memorable quotes such as "honey badger don't give a sh*t" or "honey badger don't care." I've posted the video below for those who haven't seen it.

It's been almost a year since the video first appeared on YouTube and it seemed time for a Christmas/Honey Badger collision. So in the spirit of Holiday cheer and Santa's Naughty or Nice List, here is Santa Badger. He doesn't care if you've been naughty or nice. Just don't get crazy!

Design Spotlight - Stop! Hammer time.

There was an image floating around Facebook of a stop sign, a hammer and a clock last week. I saw it and immediately started laughing. There was a little feeling of nostalgia as I flashed back to the early nineties and the phrase, "Stop! Hammer time."

A friend also enjoyed it and she told me that it needed to be on a t-shirt. So I set about doing my own version of the design and the results are now available on our huge variety of T-shirts, hoodies, bags and other great merchandise.

Weiner Brand Underwear - As Seen Online

Representative Anthony Weiner finally admitted Monday that it WAS a picture of his crotch wearing grey boxer briefs that he Tweeted to young college woman. He also admitted to "inappropriate" exchanges with six women both before and after he was married.

So in honor of "Weiner-Gate" we had to come up with something. And here it is, Weiner Brand Underwear! Not really underwear (though we do sell these designs on boxers and boxer briefs) but a fun, logo spoof of the whole situation.

The Weiner Underwear mascot is of course a hot dog and we have him wearing some very stylish underwear. The logo design is available in tighty whiteys, grey boxer briefs similar to what Weiner was wearing in the now infamous photo, a hot little red pouch number and a cute pair of heart covered boxer shorts.

From Smallville to Superman

Clark Kent's journey from Smallville to Superman is coming to an end on the hit CW series, Smallville. There are only two more regular episodes before the two-hour series finale.

Tonight's episode, "Dominion" features the return of General Zod and the Phantom Zone. Justin Hartley makes an appearance as Oliver Queen/Green Arrow as well as his Smallville directorial debut. Clark and Ollie get trapped in the Phantom Zone and have to escape from Zod and the other Zoners.

"Prophecy" sees the return of Kara (aka Supergirl) as well as the Toy Man. Clark's Kryptonian father, Jor-El gives Lois a taste of the Blur by giving her Clark's powers for a day. Plus, Oliver and Kara team up on a mission to stop Darkseid.

In the Finale, Lex Luthor returns to become the true villain of the story. It's a fantastic thing that Michael Rosenbaum was convinced to return because you can't have Superman without Lex. There are going to be a lot of other special guest appearances from through out the series including Martha Kent, Jonathan Kent and Chloe Sullivan.

So will we be seeing Clark in the Superman costume by the end of the Finale? Are Lois and Clark actually going to get married?

American Idol is Back!

America's favorite music competition is back with a new season, new judges and a new attitude. American Idol is set to start up with what some feel is the best part of the show, Auditions. Wednesday's 2 hour premiere will feature the best and the worst from New York and New Jersey. Thursday's episode will take us to New Orleans. The focus is supposed to be placed on the music more than before (which is good considering it's a MUSIC competition.) And they're even talking about a new set along with a new band leader.

It will be interesting to see how this season goes. It will probably take a little time to get used to the new judges and then when the live episodes start, the judges themselves may have some adjustments to make.

"LOST" is Coming to an End

The show that changed television is soon coming to an end. Lost is only two regular episodes and one 2 1/2 hour long finale away from it's final goodbye.

It was announced way back in May 2007 that Lost would be ending in 2010.

"In considering the powerful storytelling of Lost, we felt this was the only way to give it a proper creative conclusion," said Stephen McPherson, president, ABC Entertainment. "I always said that we would allow the series to grow and give viewers the most compelling hour possible. And, due to the unique nature of the series, we knew it would require an end date to keep the integrity and strength of the show consistent throughout, and to give the audience the payoff they deserve."

Lost premiered September 22, 2004 and soon became the most talked-about new show of the season. With it's unique story telling methods, it's changed the way we see our favorite shows on TV. With season and even series long story arcs, extensive use of flashbacks and some writing and directing worthy of many big screen endeavors, Lost has become a fan favorite and will be sorely missed.

This Week On TV

Summer's coming and that means that a lot of favorite TV shows are going on vacation. Some of them are even coming to an end completely.

LOST is coming to an end on Tuesday, May 25th. There's been a scramble for people going to viewing parties and other events to get LOST T-shirts to show their love for the show. In honor of the final season, we're going to be adding more designs over the coming week. Things are getting pretty intense on the show, and it already appears that not everyone we've come to know and love will survive the experience.

The end of Season 9 of American Idol is coming too. We're down to the final 4, Michael Lynche, Casey James, Lee DeWyze and Crystal Bowersox. If you're thinking about getting some shirts or buttons or something to show your support for your favorite, you had better get them soon. Once the season is over, the contestant specific products will no longer be available, so get yours today!

Some of our other favorite shows that are taking a break after the next couple of weeks are Grey's Anatomy, Desperate Housewives and Castle.

This Friday Meteor Freaks everywhere will be lamenting the loss of their favorite Boy Scout as Smallville ends it's 9th season. Clark is going up against Zod and a few of his super friends will be joining him to help out. Should be a good finale to the season.

It's probably a good thing that our favorite shows will be going away for a while. It's starting to warm up outside and we need a bit of a summer vacation too.

Four Weeks Until a New American Idol Is Chosen

It's getting down to the wire. In only 4 weeks we'll know who the next American Idol is going to be. Who are you voting for?

The top contender at this point seems to be Crystal Bowersox, who is also the only female left in the competition. Her bluesy, folksy kind of vibe is taking her far. MamaSox also appears to be the judges favorite to take the title.

Cougar bait, Casey James is also still in the competition and appears to be getting better each week as he follows the advice of not only the judges (who often have sub-par advice), but the capable mentors as well. Shania Twain's advice really seemed to help everyone out last week.

Lee DeWyze has a vocal following and is another one who has improved his stage presence over the weeks. He reminds me a bit of a softer Chris Daughtry. We'll see if he can last another 4 weeks to take the number one spot. Or if he ends up leaving in Daughtry's spot.

Who knew that little Aaron Kelly would make it this far? Being so young, he's going to have a long career in front of him as long as this experience doesn't take all of his innocence from him.

Last but not least, Michael Lynche is still kicking after having been eliminated and then saved by the judges in Week 9. Was the save justified? I enjoyed his performance last week, but I tend to agree with some who have said that he gives us the same thing each week. He is currently VoteForeTheWorst.com's champion and even they are predicting he will probably go home this week.

So there are your Top 5. In 4 weeks there will be only one. Who will be getting your vote?

It's Finally Friday!! It's been a long week and I'm looking forward to a little bit of fun. The weather here in Erie got cold again after record highs last weekend, so tonight will be spent in the Dream Ultra Lounge at the Boardwalk Complex in downtown Erie, PA.

That means martinis! A Vampire for me and a dirty vodka martini for my best friend. What are your plans for the weekend? Drinking, time with friends and family, road trip? What ever your plans, make sure you do SOMETHING fun! With all the pressures of work and life and everything else, we sometimes forget to do that.

American Idol Coming down to the Wire

Season 8 of Fox's huge hit reality television series is coming up on it's grand finale. This week is Rock Week and there is talk of the Idols not only performing solo numbers, but teaming up with each other to take on a duet. That will be a first in American Idol history and it will be interesting to see what the match ups are going to be. There are 4 contestants left and they are among the most talented the series has seen.

Adam Lambert, who's fans are known as "Glamberts", is the favorite to win, but there have been upsets in Idol's past. Superstar, Chris Daughtry was headed for the top and ended up in 4th place. Adam's frequent "mixing up" of traditional favorites have caused quite a polarization in Idol fans. Many either love him or hate him.

Kris Allen fell into the bottom three last week along with Adam in what some have called a bid by the shows producers to boost votes for the two. Who knows for sure, but the "Allenation" will be fighting very hard to keep their favorite in the race.

Allison Iraheta is the only female left in the competition and is the youngest of the 4 being only 17. She was 16 when she started her American Idol journey and recently had a birthday. For someone so young, she has an incredible talent and performs like she's been doing it for years. Allison's raspy, rock and roll voice has earned her many fans.

Danny Gokey was an early favorite from the initial auditions, but his star may be falling. Web site, VoteForTheWorst.com now has him as THEIR favorite as they feel he is the least talented. It remains to be seen if they can get ahead of the fan bases of Adam and Kris.

Swine Flu or H1N1 - Dont Blame the Pig

So with all the media and internet coverage of the "Swine Flu", the pig has been getting the short end of the stick. There is news that Egypt has ordered the slaughter of the country's 300,000 pigs. Even though there has, as of yet, been no reported cases there. The official name of the flu, given by the CDC, is the H1N1 Flu. The virus can easily move between bird, pig and human and this strain probably didn't originate from a pig. Birds are the most common carriers of flu viruses that can hit humans hard. But while humans are not susceptible to all bird flu strains, pigs are. Once the pig gets it, the virus can transform into a strain more likely to hit humans.

With a growing number of cases in the US and around the world, we're not sure how far the break out is going to go. The World Health Organization raised its pandemic flu alert again Wednesday to phase 5, which denotes that a pandemic is "imminent." On Thursday, WHO reported that the number of lab-confirmed cases worldwide rose to 236, up from 148 on Wednesday. So whether you are one of the people running scared, wearing masks and locking yourself in your house or you are one of the ones who really isn't impressed with the hype and media induced fear, just remember. Don't blame the pig.

Has anyone else seen the video from Household Hacker about how to charge your iPod with an onion and some Gatorade?

I saw it today for the first time when it was a featured story on the homepage at ABCNews.com.

Of course it doesn't work. While it is scientifically possible to get some electricity from vegetables (who hasn't built a potato powered clock?), this one is a bit extreme.

But wouldn't it be nice if we had something as simple as onions to solve our energy problems? Though with Thanksgiving tomorrow and all the food being served, would we still be in an energy crisis as the price of white onions went through the roof to cover the demand?

Are you a Hero or a Villain?

All I have to say is that "Heroes" ROCKS!!

OK, that's not all I have to say, but you get the idea. Based on the first 2-part episode last night, I think "Heroes" is back to what I loved about it when it first started. I was aware of some of the spoilers from the beginning of the episode so knew what was coming, but the final 10 seconds is pure Heroes "OMG!" Who saw that one coming?!?!

The twists and turns in this show are fantastic and it's going to be interesting to see how they all deal with this seasons main thrust. "Villains".

So which of your favs is going to turn into a bad guy (or girl) and which will end up doing the right thing? As each character explores his or her own motivations, ideals and circumstances, I have the feeling that there will be very few clear cut heroes or villains.

In honor of this outstanding TV show, we're giving you the chance to proclaim yourself HERO or VILLAIN. Check out the comic book lettering inspired designs. Economic Issues

More issues with the ecomony. Stocks are falling and money markets may be next. Definitely big issues with all these investment and insurance companies reeling fro the mortgage crisis. And our governments big solution? Bail them out financially. Sounds good for a quick fix, but what are the consequences down the road? Who's going to have to ultimately pay those bills? Is our new president going to have any choice but to raise taxes?

Sigh... not a whole lot I can do about it other than vote. And even then, who knows which of the two are going to help the most to make it better.

Anyway... with all the political talk about lipstick recently (on a pit bull, on a pig), I thought I'd add a little economic lipstick to the mix. Putting lipstick on a bear market doesn't make the economy pretty. Is what the government is doing to help matters no more than a quick coat of lip gloss? We'll see.

OK. So when Barack Obama said, "But you know you can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig," did he mean to insult Sarah Palin directly or was he just using the age old expression? Of course he meant to say it and of course he knew the firestorm that was going to erupt because of it. Everything that comes out of the candidates mouths for the next 2 months (and probably longer) is scripted and scrutinized.

Personally, I think it was more a jab at John McCain than Palin. She would be the lipstick and McCain would be the pig. Though the remark could be taken in the exact way Obama represented it and that McCain is the same as we've had for the last 8 years no matter what he says or does.

Either way, it's a shame that our candidates for president need to resort to name calling and playground tactics to get elected. They all talk a good game, but who can you really trust at the end of the day?

Pit Bull with Lipstick

New Salmonella News

It's finally official...
A fresh jalapeño pepper grown in Mexico and processed in Texas has tested positive for the strain of salmonella that has sickened more than 1,200 people in recent months, food safety and health officials said today. As a result of the finding, the FDA is asking people nationwide to avoid eating fresh jalapeño peppers, serrano peppers and foods made with fresh jalapeño peppers.

While tomatoes have been taken off the bad list, Whee! will continue to stock the original Bad Tomato and Rotten Tomato designs. We've added a couple of new designs as well. Salmonella Farms offers fresh Tomatoes and Jalapeño Peppers.

An Interesting Revelation

OK. So we've added a few new designs to the Pride Shoppe. There is the confused... 'I think my girlfriend might be a lesbian.' and 'I think my boyfriend might be gay.' designs. Pretty basic humor, but they would be fun to wear out to the straight bars.

Then there is the one that answers every straight guys question when he sees two hot women hanging out together. 'Yes, we are. No, you can't watch.'

Then there are the two designs that bring about the interesting revelation. Most of the designs I've seen that use this wording, use it differently.Every time I hear the phrase, "bats for the other team" in reference to a guy, I think of the guy as being gay. But when presented with this idea... bang... revelation. Some one who is gay would be considered to be batting for the HOME team... their OWN team, not the other team. So now Whee! has a couple of designs that reflect this and my use of the phrase has changed forever.

Why does it always feel as if there are too few hours in the day?

Lot's of things happening in the world and only a few designs made it to the site. The big seller has been the Culinary Boner t-shirt inspired by Andrew from BravoTV's Top Chef. I had to remove the original design as it looked too much like the show's logo. But the new design is up and still selling along with some other television show inspired designs.

We've also got tainted tomatoes and high gas prices in Whee! Today.

Many more designs are coming soon as well as a complete update to the site. (I get bored easily.)

Spring is coming and the Whee! Chick has hatched.

Though you wouldn't know it by looking our the window today. Nearly a foot of snow and more on the way. I hate winter, especially in Erie. The road crews make a bigger mess of things than if they didn't even bother to plow. Though most of the time they don't. There's got to be a good tshirt in there somewhere.

Anyway... with spring come the hatching of new products! We've been working on this for a while and Spring and Easter seemed to be the best time to launch the Whee! Chick. She's very cute, but can have an attitude at time. Rocker Chick, Wicked Chick, Popular Chick, Irish Chick and Easter Chick are all here. We'll be adding many more and if you have an idea for a special Chick, just let us know.

The look of the Whee! Chick is still evolving, so she may change as time goes on.

Feeling a Little Green?

Well, Valentine's day is behind us and it's time to start thinking Spring. The holidays this year are falling in odd places. Easter is just a WEEK after St. Patrick's Day!

So I've got several fun St. Patrick's Day designs up at Whee! Design. Many of them in support of National Beer Drinking Day. Even though I'm Irish and don't drink beer, I'm sure there is going to be a large number of green martinis available as well (shaken, not stirred).

There's shamrocks, green beer and invitations for kissing (among other things) with more to come over the next couple of weeks.

Easter items are soon to follow.

So, who cares if you're Irish or not? Everyone's a little green on St. Patrick's Day. Whether you're out for the green beer, the free kisses or little play time with the ol' shillelagh, we've got the design for you.

Almost missed Mardi Gras

So with all the excitement about publishing new designs for Valentine's Day and getting the tags and descriptions just right (or at least as good as I could get them), I totally forgot about Mardi Gras!

It was on my list of things to do, but I didn't realize it was coming up so fast. It's in just a little over two weeks on February 5th.

Well, I did get a design up and I kinda like it. I'm not sure if the "Fleur de Lis" replacing the "Heart" will work beyond a conceptual thing or not. It's no where near as fun as using images of other playing card suits ("I Club Baby Seals", "I Spade my Dog", etc.), but it's still interesting. I suppose it could stand for all the drunken debauchery that takes place during Mardi Gras. "I Fleur de Lis Mardi Gras" sounds so much more elegant than "I get wasted and then flash random body parts in order to acquire the most beads in order to enjoy Mardi Gras."

First Post!

This is the first post on our new blog at Whee! Design. We will include new product announcements, commentary on current events and assorted other things that make us go 'Whee!'.

First up, Valentine's Day is right around the corner. It is if you're trying to make a buck off it anyway. We've got a lot of new designs just for Valentine's Day... whether you're a lover or a hater!

Our Candy Hearts make it VERY easy to make a statement. Any statement you as a matter of fact. Just visit the Custom Candy Heart page to request your own custom design which you can then purchase on any of our nearly 200 items. Many of the apparel items (t-shirts, sweatshirts, etc.) come in many different colors.
Not sure how I'm feeling about Valentine's Day this year. I may just get a blank candy heart for myself and carry around a marker or something for when I do figure it out.

I've also got some real nice designs for Valentine's Cards and some other designs specifically for you gay boys and girls out there.
